As Headmaster, Rev. Stone made improvements to school buildings and grounds, increased enrollment, added classrooms and dorms. He was taken into service with the National Guard in 1940; sent to the South Pacific in 1943; and resigned as Headmaster of 'Iolani School in 1945 due to continued military service. Rev. Stone died on October 9, 1952 at age 62.
